Whether it's by plane, bus or train, go back to travel from today and for a while it will be different. There will be “hard” rules to follow for your own and especially the safety of others. Below I will list the rules to follow with the main means of transport. I will explain above all what approach the airports are adopting. The latter, in fact, were among the last to restore a “sort of routine”. They were also the ones who created the most inconvenience. Especially for those who, like me, were out of Italy for work. Ready to travel safe?
Travel safe: Bus, tube (underground), cable car, and tram.
Basically we talk about everything that moves on road or rail . All these means, for one reason or another, never stopped during the “covid 19”. And they were also the ones for which solutions were immediately found.
Unfortunately, one of the reasons was the fact that not all jobs are smart. So not everyone has had the opportunity to work from home. For some people, “Corona Virus” period was simply an ordeal. Especially those who fought him on the field. An ordeal that lasted (before he relaxed) about 3 months!
Below I list what should be the basic indications to follow:
- Wear the mask (ALWAYS, ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE)
- Try as much as possible to maintain a safety distance of at least 2 meters
- Wash your hands often and for quite a long time. Facilities such as train stations, airports etc provide disinfectant gels. In addition of course to the use of the bathroom. Or at least in the UK it is.
- A piece of advice that I (personal) give you is to pay (if you can) by card (or mobile). Here in the United Kingdom is an absurd convenience as well as a security issue. So avoid handling cash that others have handled.
Travel safe: Ferries, ships and cruises.
Did you book a holiday and chose one of these means of transport? Well, even in this case, the rules to follow are simple. Although we are at sea and in the open air (at least outside) it is mandatory to wear a mask.

For the air travel , as I already explained in the preface, restarting was more complicated. The risk of contagion between countries and countries was too high. For this reason, there has been a real global blockade. Of those to tell in the history books.
One day we could say that the World has stopped for months. Books or articles like this will be the memory of these days spent within the walls of the house. National borders closed on entry and exit. People who have risked (and continue to risk) their lives to help all of us. Flights canceled, moved from month to month, vouchers, emails, calls, and so on and so forth.
These are the inconveniences for those who were/are stuck in another country. With the desire to return to the people we love. I was one of these people and they waited 5 months before being able to see family again and go home. Cause 2 flights canceled and quarantine looming in case of return.
But I'm here to write this article because, in the end, I went home. Now I will explain what are the measures taken at the airport in case of travel. Small premise: unless it is for repatriation or for work, my advice is to stay at home
My post is not an invitation to travel , indeed. Although the title is: return to travel, this does not imply doing it for every reason. I tell you that at the moment it is better to stay in your country and not to risk . Especially if the trip is for fun, you can also do that in your city. Even the country if you want, but it is always better to be cautious.
Default rules at the airport and on board
Transiting from nation to nation is certainly the thing that frightened the most at first. This is why it was decided to close the borders, for limit the contagion . Also to allow each nation to manage the situation based on its own status.
Obviously it took a while to reorganize. The first thing we had to wait for was the drop in infections . Because with a high contagion curve the risk would have been too high.
Below I list all the instructions to follow before flying. Of course, always consult the website of the company with which you have booked.
Because things can always and suddenly change.

- During the flight for safety reasons the arrangement will be of two people in a block of 3. Usually in the airplanes there are blocks of 3 seats, in the center there will be no one. Precisely to maintain that minimum but necessary safety distance.
- During the whole flight you must wear the mask covering your nose as well. Of course, you can take it off in case you need to eat or drink.
- Personally, on the way there (from the UK) they didn't check my temperature. But this depends from country to country.
These are summarily the "basic" procedures
to follow and expect at the airport. Obviously the situation could always change, hopefully for the positive. So always better keep up to date especially if you book a flight.
Hoping that sooner or later we will return to visit the wonderful places that the world has to offer us. Hoping that all this becomes just a bad memory to remember silently. Thinking about who didn't make it. Hopefully this pandemic has made everyone think a little.
And that if we all work together , we can start from scratch. By forcing each other, despite everything, despite our mistakes .
