I consider Venice (like Florence) one of my favorite Italian cities. I look forward, in this article, to tell you about this all-Italian beauty. Venice is a city to visit by walking across the 350 bridges that connect it. Yes, more than 350! But what are the things to see in Venice for two days?
Bridges and architecture that give it its unique charm throughout the World. And it is for this (and many other reasons that I will list) that Venice is one of the most popular destinations in the World.

Day 1
The luck of Venice is that it is easy to visit on foot, especially the center. All the main attractions are quite close to each other. This is also the reason why you won't need more than 2 days to visit it. To be more specific 2 nights (3 days)
But the most important thing is that between every place “ve sciàcquate ll'uocchie”. Where I come from (Napoli) this phrase means: your eyes will be delighted.
In Venice I got busy with my camera and I can't wait to show you all the photos I took. At the end of the article I will also insert a map to better guide you in all the spots.
Venice for 2 days: gondola ride
Guys, just for the record, if you come to Venice and don't take the gondola ride, don't leave at all your house. Gondola ride to see Venice with “different” eyes is a MUST.
Getting lost in the alleys of Venice on foot is beautiful, getting lost in the canals in a gondola it's magical. A spell to try at least once in a lifetime, especially if you have a partner As we would say in my Napoli: cor a cor .
Venice is also famous for being a very very romantic city. Do you want to surprise your sweetheart with a special trip? Venice and the gondola ride is an experience not to be missed as a memory of a special trip.
Indeed, if it can help you, I advise you to book in advance the gondola ride online. Better to be prepared and organised.
Venice for 2 days: Rialto bridge
The most important, largest, and oldest bridge in Venice with a a 100% Italian style. From the highest point of the bridge, you can have a nice view of Venice and the grand canal (both sides).
You can admire the bridge in all its beauty if you walk along the canal and I'll tell you more. As a good landscape photographer I found a nice spot to take pictures.
This spot is located on one side of the bridge where you have a complete view and where you can take nice photos. At the end of the article I leave you a map with more nice spots nice in Venice (including this one).
Venice for 2 days: Piazza San Marco
One of the largest and most evocative squares in Italy as well as the only one in Venice. Yes, the only one guys. Because similar spaces in Venice are defined as "campi" and not squares.
Why is Piazza San Marco so famous?
- Among the many things I would mention (in an ironic way) certainly the coffee at (more or less) 12 euros, now known all over the world.
- The wonderful Basilica San Marco
- The Doge's Palace, the Correr Museum, the Bell Tower, and the Clock Tower
Its Renaissance-style contrasts with the beautiful Romanesque/Byzantine style of the Basilica.

I saw it inside and immediately understood why it is nicknamed Golden Cathedral. My advice to you is: once in Venice, visit this architectural spectacle.
Basilica San Marco is a popular attraction and I advise you to book the ticket online. Also take a look at this interesting guided tour of San Marco. When I visit attractions I always prefer to understand the history of what I am looking at. The reason why I'm the first one to do guided tours when i travel.
San Giorgio Maggiore's island
It is there, just a few steps from Piazza San Marco, ready to be admired in all its beauty and silhouette. The island of San Giorgio Maggiore is iconic in Venice and you can find it in many photos online.
It is possible to visit it and the Church (I personally have not done it). But what I did was take a nice picture of me as a memory with the background of the island from a nearby pier. This is another location I'll put on the map at the end.
Bridge of sighs
It is always near Piazza San Marco and you can admire it from a nearby bridge. (I'll add the location on the map at the end).
Venice for 2 days: Accademia bridge
This bridge, unlike the Rialto one, is not (aesthetically speaking) beautiful. There is a but and the but is that the view from this bridge is (in my opinion) the most beautiful in Venice.
It's also because from here you can enjoy a fantastic sunset and I love sunsets. I love when the color of the sky turns orange and relaxes us, mind and body.

So what I recommend you to do if you go to Accademia is to go at sunset time. Not only for the wonderful view of the city of Venice from the bridge but also for the sunset.
Near there (the bridge) you will find a pedestrian area that runs along the sea and where you can sit. Sit down and make sure you get there before the sun disappears completely over the horizon. Enjoy the show (I'll put it on the map at the end)
Venice for 2 days: Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo
Do you know what is the best thing about traveling? Discover random places. Wandering around Venice I came across a group of tourists entering an alley. I'm not kidding but this alley is barely fit for one person.
Intrigued by this continuous passage of people, I decide to enter too. Halfway through the alley on the right there is a small door and you find yourself facing a building. Now… I admire Italian architecture so much, but what you find in front of yourself is absurd.
Absurd in a good way, the architectural thoroughness of this Venetian palazzo is impressive. Go there if you are an architecture lover, you will like it.
Day 2
The second day we move from Venice to visit one of the most beautiful islands in Italy. Ready? Your captain is ready to set sail
Venice for 2 days: visit Burano island
Near Venice (about 45 minutes by vaporetto) you will find Burano, island of thousand colors. A stop, in my opinion, not to be missed. Burano looks like the island of happiness, happiness conveyed by all its bright colors.
Once you arrive on the island (go there early in the morning) take a nice walk. Lose yourself in the alleys and admire the bright and strong colors. I took many beautiful photos and there are many beautiful spots where to take memories photos. On the island you will find many bars and restaurants offering Venetian specialties.
Visit Murano
Another tip I can give you is to visit the island of Murano, famous for the production of glass. For me, it is worth a visit because you can admire the glass processing made by craftsmen.
If you decide to visit both with the Venice transport card will also be convenient. What is the Venice transport card? I'll explain it to you right away.
How to get to Burano and Murano
To get to Burano from Venice it takes 45 minutes by vaporetto. The cost of the vaporetto for a single journey is around 10 euros and 19 round trip. The reason why I recommend the Venice transport card (purchasable online)? Simply to save money.
With exactly 6 more euros you can have daily unlimited transport . So you can also visit Murano or move around Venice when you come back from the islands. I highly recommend it because I also bought it on the 2nd day that I visited the islands.

Back from the islands, what you can do to enjoy the time left is walking. Worn out the soles of your shoes for this city. Cities like Venice are unique in the World, savor every single moment.
What to eat in Venice
In Venice, as in all of Italy, you eat well and there are many typical things. I'll list a few to try when you get there and you can find them almost everywhere.

Where to stay in Venice
Whether to stay somewhere, as I always say, depends on your pocket. The only advice I can give you is to book the accommodation in the centre. What can I say…Venice is unique and I hope my photos have told you as such. As I already told you before, after Naples (my city), I consider it like Florence the most beautiful in Italy. Venice is one of those cities to visit at least once in a lifetime.
