For the Italian “dolce vita”, Capri is the perfect place. A wonderful island with many activities to do which I will tell you about in my article. Capri is a “status”, it's magical, it kidnaps you, Capri is Capri. I had the privilege of living there for 7 months allowing me to visit it well. I will suggest to you what to do in Capri for a day, locations where to eat and where to sleep (at least one night).

A map (I created for you) with the island's main spots will help you orient yourself better. In the end, I will also leave you some useful links for some tours of the island, so stay with me. And above all, I can't wait to show you the beautiful photos (and videos) I took for you. Ready? Iamme ià.
- Blue Grotto
- Marina Grande
- La Piazzetta
- Augustus Gardens
- Faraglioni rocks
- Via Krupp
- Marina Piccola
- Tragara Terrace
- Pizzolungo
These that I have listed are the places that you can easily explore in Capri in one day. Many are close to each other. Now we'll see them one by one with this precise “saves time” itinerary.

Are you in a rush? Book the essentials
What do in Capri for a day: Grotta Azzurra (Blue grotto)
The most popular attraction on the island. The Blue Grotto is one of the main reasons for which tourists go to Capri. Its beauty is unique and its light blue color radiates throughout the cave once inside. The scenario is idyllic and I think there are few places in the world like this.

You can enter it with small rowing boats due to the narrow passage. There are two ways to reach the blue grotto:
- With a boat tour starting from Marina Grande (also passing through Faraglioni rocks)
- From Anacapri (which can be reached by bus from the center of Capri) by queuing via a staircase
Tickets for entry to the blue grotto can be purchased from the rowing boat before entering. The skipper will let you purchase from a boat that is as a marine ticket office, cool.
Best time to visit blue grotto in Capri
Early in the morning is always a good idea. This way you will avoid long queues and then enjoy the rest of the day in Capri. I take this opportunity to tell you that a good idea is to reach the island of Capri early. Or, if you are staying one night in Capri (recommended), visit the cave the next day. I'll explain why later. Blue grotto visits start from 9 am until 5 pm.

What do in Capri for a day: Marina Grande
Marina Grande is the main port of Capri where everyone arrives and then goes to the center. From here you can (as already mentioned above) do the tour in the boat for the blue grotto.

From Marina Grande you can reach the center of Capri in two ways:
- Funicular (tickets can be purchased at the ticket office located in Marina Grande).
- Taxi (I recommend it if you are with a company and you can split the costs) avoiding the funicular queue. Queues for the funicular can last up to an hour at certain months and times of the year.
What do in Capri for a day: Piazzetta
Time Square, Burj Khalifa...? Naah. I prefer the small Piazzetta in Capri, the beating heart of the island. Few bars, slow and social life, and meeting lots of people, another "status" here on the island. Walking through the Piazzetta (and sitting at one of its tables) it's a MUST. In addition to the fact that you have to pass through it to reach the rest of the attractions.

Book your accommodation in the heart of Capri
The area around the piazzetta is perfect for staying and getting around Capri on foot. It's also very close to the bus station for getting around Anacapri.
What do in Capri for a day: Augustus Gardens
For every place I visit, I always fall more in love with some spots than others. This is my favorite place in Capri. From here, you can have a first direct view of the faraglioni. This is also one of the top spots for taking some beautiful memories photos.

The beauty of the Augustus Gardens is also the fact that from here you have a 180° view of Capri. Faraglioni are just one of the wonders that can be admired from the gardens. From here you can also admire one of the most beautiful paths in the world that takes you straight to Paradise: via Krupp.
What do in Capri for a day: via Krupp – the path towards Marina Piccola
Via Krupp was born in 1902 at the behest of Alfred Krupp, a German steel magnate. I have seen many places in the world, I have walked many paths, but this, ladies & gentlemen, chapeau. Usually, to go to Heaven you have to go up, but in this case, you have to go down guys! Crossing via Krupp is more than an experience , every angle is different with a different view.

I also consider it, in photographic terms, one of the most interesting places on the island. Have fun taking lots of beautiful photos while you travel along the path. Path that will take you to another beautiful destination on the island: Marina Piccola.
What do in Capri for a day: Marina Piccola
Marina Piccola is a lovely place where (bring swimsuit) you can swim. The beach is not very large but that's the beauty of it.
Find a free spot and enjoy the Capri waters with a view of faraglioni. To come back to Capri center (from Marina Piccola) you must take the bus.

Free beaches in capri
Speaking of beaches, I take this opportunity to list the two main places to go (for free):
- Marina piccola (just mentioned and very very suggestive which I highly recommend)
- Marina Grande

What do in Capri for a day: Tragara terrace
Terrazza Tragara is another panoramic point here on island from where you can admire the Faraglioni. I put it among the last not by chance, but because going there in the early afternoon is better. Why? This spot is also famous on the island for another reason: the Pizzolungo path. So there will still be some walking but it's better to do it at a more convenient time.

What do in Capri for a day: Pizzolungo – the path that runs along the Faraglioni
Pizzolungo is another beautiful path in Capri that runs along the Faraglioni. During the path, you will come across beautiful panoramic terraces where you can enjoy the view. Horizons with an infinite blue between sky and earth and the beautiful faraglioni of Capri, what do you want more...? Do you want more? Do you want to know what else I can suggest about this fantastic island? No problem my friends, at your service.

Capri restaurant with view: Geranio
Do you remember when I told you at the beginning that I had the privilege of living in Capri for 7 months? Because during those months I had the honor and pleasure of working in the most beautiful restaurant in Capri. Geranio is a beautiful restaurant with the view of faraglioni near Augustus gardens.

Since you are passing through on your Caprese itinerary, think about it. Believe me you will not regret it due to the very high level of service, quality of food and view.
Is it worth staying in Capri?
When I told you about the blue grotto I mentioned you to (in case of an overnight stay) postpone it until the next day. Why? Because this option can make your Capri stay more “dolce vita” style. In addition to this, it would give you the possibility to have a further experience (which I'll tell you about later). Capri is that destination where, if you plan to stay for a night, you have to choose carefully and wisely.

The first thing I tell you is definitely to stay in the center of Capri. You can find restaurants, bars, and clubs all here and it will be easier to return to your accommodation on foot. For this series of reasons I suggest a location where I stayed: villa Silia. It is located in the heart of Capri, a 7-minute walk from the Piazzetta.
Villa Silia has a wonderful terrace from which you have a breathtaking view of Capri. The helpfulness and hospitality of the staff was incredible. A “white glove” service like we would say in Italy. Above all, I loved having breakfast on the terrace with the joyful chirping of the birds. A beautiful discovery. I take this opportunity to leave you the link to book a room at Villa Silia which made me feel at home.
5 star experience: Hotel La Minerva
From an idea by Luigi Esposito and Laura Cannavale, founders of the Hotel, La Minerva comes to life. A story that will make you understand how much the hotel feels like home, then pass it on to its guests. Yes, because La Minerva is nothing other than a typical Capri house used as a Hotel. You notice it as soon as you enter the beautiful hall. Starting with just two rooms at the beginning of the 1900s to accommodate tourists, today it is a 100% hotel.

I have personally stayed at La Minerva and the service was impeccable. From breakfast to dinner, passing through an afternoon aperitif in the pool overlooking the sea. The thing that struck me most about La Minerva was the tranquility. Wherever I was, my ears could only hear the chirping of birds. How peaceful.

All the staff at La Minerva will make you comfortable and allow you to spend moments of pure relaxation. Moments so relaxing that it will be hard to leave the hotel and its “dolce vita” style. I recommend, especially if you have to celebrate a special occasion, to stay here. Indeed I leave you, as usual, the link to book a room here at La Minerva and live a 5-star experience.
What do in Capri for a day (if you stay overnight): sunset at the Anacapri lighthouse
The Anacapri lighthouse and its suggestive sunset are a sensational experience. To reach Anacapri from the Capri center is very simple: you have to take a bus (or taxi). Buses leave from the Capri center (near the Piazzetta) continuously. Be sure to go before sunset so you can enjoy an aperitif at sunset.
