Portici beaches: where to bathe (with map)

Portici is a city in the province of Naples and in this article I will show you its beaches. Portici is famous for its high population density. Apart from this, it is also famous for other reasons that I will list at the end. I tell you at the end because now I will tell you about its beaches and the beautiful lungomare. Ready? Iamme ià.

Portici beaches: the mortelle

The mortelle beach is the most famous in the city, and is located near the Granatello. This is the most popular beach and in the summer it gets crowded with locals ready to spend their days in the sun and sea. Once here, I recommend you enjoy a nice walk on the Granatello pier. Maybe after the beach. In summer you will also find a place near the beach that serves as a solarium and bar. In case you prefer to be more comfortable.

Aperitif at Essenza

A few minutes' walk from the beach, you will find Essenza. A magical place where, in the evening, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful intellectual phenomena in the world: the sunset.

Open from morning to late evening, Essenza is both a restaurant and a cocktail bar, a unique place to spend time with the people you love. If you are nearby, drop in for an aperitif overlooking the sea.

The mortelle beach is the most popular, the waterfront is pure fun. Here you can spend the day on one of its 3 beaches and have fun at the same time. How?

The lungomare di Portici is the pulsating 'sporting' heart of the city. At sunset, when the air cools down, it becomes crowded. Nice to see so many young people playing sports and so many other people enjoying moments of relaxation. Definitely a place to see once in town.

Pietrarsa Museum

Naples - Portici was the first Italian railway line opened in 1839. As a Neapolitan (and a Porticese), I am proud of this. A reminder of this great feat is the iconic Pietrarsa museum. Palace of Portici

Another iconic place in Portici and used, in the past, as a home summer for the Borbone dynasty. Together with the Botanical Garden, it represents the most important architectural work in the city. Today it is possible to visit the palace and all its internal works.

Herculaneum ruins

Once in Portici, it is impossible not to drop by the excavations of Herculaneum. They are exactly at 19 minutes on foot from Portici - Ercolano station. A historical site to visit and to admire some works literally intact. I also leave you the:
