Best period to visit Naples
The first piece of advice I can give you is to reach Naples on Friday evening. This is always if it is possible based on your needs. Waking up on Saturday morning and already being in Naples would be perfect. You would have more time to visit the city but also to have a nice breakfast 'made in Naples.
Weekend in Naples: Historic Centre
A weekend in Naples means having two full days, which is not a small amount. In two days we can certainly explore one of the main areas: the historical center. Just visiting the historical center takes a day, and that's exactly how we'll spend one. Consider that in the historical center there are so many attractions and monuments. Of these, I think you can visit at least a couple in a day. I'll tell you the ones that for me are worth every penny spent.
Naples Underground
The most interactive and dynamic attraction in town: a Naples underground. Through underground tunnels and labyrinths you can explore (with a guide) the Naples that was. These underground passages were used as a refuge during wartime. An incredible and unforgettable experience that is well worth doing.
Sansevero Chapel
The iconic chapel that houses one of the most iconic works of art in the world: the Veiled Christ. If you love sculpture, then this place is for you.
Cloister of Santa Chiara
Another incredible place that everyone visits for the beauty of its inner cloister. With its Gothic architecture, the Monastery is characterised by its unique polychrome majolica tiles.
San Gregorio Armeno: the street of Cribs
A walk down the street of pure tradition is more than due. San Gregorio is not just a street, it is a 'status' here in Naples for thenativity art. Art and tradition handed down from generation to generation.
Naples Cathedral
Naples has so many churches (about a thousand) and some are stratospheric (in beauty). The thing that astounded me most, visiting them, is how tall they are. The Duomo di Napoli is obviously the most famous church. This is where the rite of the dissolution of the blood of San Gennaro (patron saint of the city) is celebrated every year. In addition to the fact that the Church houses the treasure of San Gennaro.
Spanish Neighbourhood
I spanish quarters of Naples are the attraction of the moment. Here you will find Neapolitanism in its purest form, as well as a labyrinth of alleyways. In the Spanish quarters there are many murals to see, such as that of Maradona. Iconic murals for which everyone finds a second to take a photo with the background of the God of Football.

Weekend in Naples What to See: Pompeii & Vesuvius
If this is your first time in Naples, it would be a shame to leave without seeing at least one of them. In fact Pompeii and Vesuvius could also be visited together. I will leave you the link for a day tour later. Certainly visiting both takes almost the whole day, but it is worth it. I have visited both the excavations of Pompeii (with a guide) and climbed Mount Vesuvius.
Both unique and culturally enlightening experiences, of which I knew very little. I am also ashamed to say this since it was only in my adult life that I discovered these beauties. And I am Neapolitan. But I usually say: it is never too late. If both were too much (even physically speaking) then you could opt for one. Weekend in Naples What to See: Capri or Procida
Capri or Procida are an alternative I give you to Pompeii and Vesuvius. If perhaps you are more in the mood for sea and sun, these are two good alternatives. Visiting both Capri and Procida in a day is really easy, as they are very small.
Both are easy to reach from Naples in less than 45 to 60 minutes by hydrofoil. In the spring/summer period, with the long days, you could spend wonderful days. For your choice, I suggest you read two articles I have written about the two islands:
What to see in Naples on return from a trip out of town
After the out-of-town trips (if you return by 5/18pm) you could visit a couple more areas. Ehy, if you still have energy eh, otherwise straight to bebbé. I'm telling you this because in private/summer in Naples it gets dark between 8 and 9 p.m. You could take advantage of 2/3 hours of light to explore other areas. Easy to reach and a joy to behold.
Via Parthenope
Naples waterfront which in spring/summer becomes very pleasant to walk along. Here you will also find numerous bars and restaurants with typical Neapolitan dishes. Also on the seafront you will find one of the most famous castles in Naples.
Ovo Castle
It is located on an isthmus connected by a bridge from the waterfront. Ovo Castle is one of the main attractions on the waterfront. It hosts numerous exhibitions throughout the year and can also be visited, as it has a panoramic terrace.
13 Descents Viewpoint
Viewpoint (I leave you a map) that you reach by climbing the Posillipo hill. You can do this either by foot, bus or funicular (from Mergellina). This belvedere is iconic for Neapolitans, a real postcard.
