How to get to Arco Magno in San Nicola Arcella: where is it?

The Arco Magno is located in San Nicola Arcella, a small Calabrian village between Scalea and Praia a Mare. It is exactly here, between 2 beaches, that the Arco Magno is located. Every year it is visited by hundreds of thousands of people from all corners of the globe. This is due not only to its rare beauty but also for 2 other reasons. One is the path to take to reach it. The other is the unique sunset that falls right in the middle of the arch and creates a magical atmosphere.

Arco Magno beach: how to reach it

Before arriving at the Arco Magno it would be better to tell you how to get to San Nicola . Since the latter has no railway station. The two closest are those of Scalea and of Praia a Mare . Honestly, between the two I recommend Scalea, also because it is the liveliest city of the Riviera dei Cedri. So if you stay a few days in my opinion it's better, so you have more entertainment.

The path to reach the beach of Arco Magno

Returning to the Arco Magno, to get there you have two options once in San Nicola.

• Via the path that starts from the beach
• By the sea with kayak, pedal boat or boat.

The path starts exactly from the free beach to the right of the bay of San Nicola.
From here you can see this staircase not even climbing to Olympus. It is also quite steep and slippery, so be careful. Once you get to the top you can admire the view of the bay from above.

Continuing the path to the Arco Magno beach you can admire the Dino's Island (Isola di Dino) . This is located in Praia a Mare, adjacent to San Nicola and is a spectacle of nature. I have visited it and will tell you about it in another article.

At a certain point on the path you start to go down and see the Arco Magno beach. Arriving at the last stretch, you will realize why this place is so praised. Take a seat and relax in one of the most beautiful natural pools in Italy.

Arco Magno by the sea

Earlier I told you that getting to the Arco Magno is possible in two ways. The other is by sea and I went there with my kayak. The beaches of the bay of San Nicola are also equipped with pedal boats as well as with kayak . The Arco Magno beach cannot be accessed by boats but only from the outside.

So if you go by sea I recommend either kayaking or pedal boats so that you can stop on the beach. Both experiences are wonderful and I recommend doing both. I went there in the morning by kayak and in the evening via path to admire the sunset.

Useful tips

If you want to go in the evening to see the sunset, I do not recommend by sea.
The fact is that immediately after sunset it starts to get dark, so it is better to take a route via path. Anyway, the experience is phenomenal. I fell in love with this place, then you know what? When the sun is about to set no one speaks, no one says a word. All in silence waiting for the sun to go out behind the horizon. Until the last segment disappears, making our day more enjoyable.

How to get to San Nicola Arcella and the beach of Arco Magno

First of all I am attaching the link on how to get to San Nicola Arcella from Scalea with the bus. Once there, you will have to continue following the signs for the beach ! Find several street signs in the city center. You will have to do it on foot though, because there are no buses that lead down to the beach!

If, on the other hand, you decide to go there by car , you will find parking lots along the road to the beaches. If you are lucky you can find some free street parking. Although parking (all day) shouldn't cost much (around 5 euros).
