Best experiences to do in Naples Italy: Napoli underground

This is probably the most unique experience. Underground Naples is another world. It is a Naples 40 meters deep between tunnels and mysteries. It is a must visit only and exclusively with a specialized guide. During the tour the guide will tell you the stories of this place and why it was used.

naples underground entry

The ticket can only be purchased online and for that I leave you all the links of all the tours at the end. I highly recommend underground Naples also because is a very cheap tour with a very low cost. Furthermore lasts only one hour and therefore is perfect even if you are only in Naples for one day.

Best experiences to do in Naples Italy: kayak tour

Here it is, my favorite experience in Naples, the one that not everyone knows about. Yes guys, you got it right, in Naples you can take a wonderful kayak tour one of a kind. Reason? Breathtaking landscapes, beautiful beaches, and submerged attractions.

best experiences to have in naples

The kayak tour in Naples is unique for the scenarios that will appear in front of you. Submerged attractions, submerged palaces, villas with private beaches, bays with crystal clear water. Do you want a "different" experience that few know about? Here I am. There are several tours from different points based on your time requirements. Always at the end of the article, I leave you more detailed info for the tours.

Best experiences to do in Naples Italy: pizza masterclass

It was 1889 when the chef Raffaele Esposito prepared the first pizza Margherita. Pizza dedicated to the Queen of Italy (Margherita di Savoia) and which he called Margherita. Tomato, mozzarella and basil: simple ingredients and lots and lots of love. Since that day the city of Naples has become world icon of pizza .

pizza masterclass naples

Today in Naples it is possible to do real masterclasses on pizza if you are there on vacation. In 2 hours you can have a wonderful experience on making a Neapolitan pizza . 2 hours where you can learn the secrets of one of the most consumed meals in the world. I leave you the link for the masterclass with a master pizza maker at the end of the article.

Best experiences to do in Naples Italy: walking tour in the historical center

The essence of Naples, its soul, its being, where the walls of the streets talk to you: the old town. This is another experience to have in this incredible city: get lost in its alleys. Lose yourself in the alleys and breathe the veracity of this city. I recommend, below, some places in the center not to be missed.

Spanish Neighbourhood

The famous Spanish Quarters are the veracity of this city. Lose yourself in its alleys to breathe the essence of Naples. Here you will also find the very famous Maradona graffiti, a real King in Naples.

Piazza Plebiscito

Iconic square of the historic center of Naples with its immense architectural beauty.

Maschio Angioino

One of the most important castles of Naples and which it is located in piazza Municipio. You will surely come across this beauty, especially if you visit one of the islands. In front of the Maschio Angioino, in fact, there is the port from which to embark to reach the islands.

San Gregorio Armeno

Known worldwide as “via dei presepi”, San Gregorio Armeno is an open-air shop. A workshop where master craftsmen create characters of the Neapolitan crib. I recommend a visit here because it is a very picturesque place.

Vittorio Emanuele's gallery

Shopping gallery in the center and of extraordinary architectural beauty. Fulcrum of the city of Naples and from which you can reach many of the places mentioned.

Best experiences to do in Naples Italy: Sant Elmo Castle

There are 3 important castles in Naples and Sant Elmo is one of them. The main difference between them is the location, as well as the story of course. While Castel dell'Ovo and Maschio Angioino are close to the sea, Castel Sant Elmo is located in Vomero.

Vomero is a hill area of Naples and from which you have a complete view of the Neapolitan city. I mention it as an experience to do because the skyline with Vesuvius in the background is actually an experience. Such a panorama is one of a kind, the background on the Vesuvius gives Naples a unique charm in the world.

Obviously, the experience also stays in visiting the Castle. Indeed, you actually have to access the Castle to get this wonderful view. Built in 1300 it is of medieval type and today used as a museum, I highly recommend it.

Charterhouse of San Martino

A few steps from the Castle, if you have a little more time, you will find the beautiful charterhouse of San Martino. From a splendid terrace with a view of all of Naples there is the entrance to another place that is worth seeing.

Best experiences to do in Naples Italy: visit Capri, Ischia or Procida

Whichever you choose, you can't go wrong. Capri, Ischia and Procida are gems of Naples. The 3 flegrean islands are a real experience for all they have to offer and do. The perfect ones for a day are Capri and Procida because they are very small. To visit Ischia, on the other hand, it would take more time as it is the biggest of the 3.

Capri

Capri is a dream and it is my favorite of the 3, also because I worked there for a summer. The beauty and peace that this island gives you exceed all expectations. Capri is famous for being one of the most popular islands in the world for its wonders. Visited every year by tourists from all over the world, it is certainly worth seeing. What to see in Capri?

  • Blue Grotto
  • Faraglioni rocks
  • Green cave
  • Anacapri and its lighthouse with a wonderful sunset
  • Augustus garden and via Krupp
  • Marina Piccola
capri-in-one-day

Procida

My second favorite island after Capri, the smallest of the 3 but with so many beautiful things to do and see. Procida is very small and easy to visit and in one day it is perfect. In the 2022 was European Capital of Culture making it a very popular tourist destination. It is also famous for actor Massimo Troisi who shot his beautiful film here “Il Postino”. What I advise you not to miss in this gem in the middle of the sea is:

  • Terra murata (with an amazing view of the island)
  • Corricella
  • Chiaiolella
  • Vivara island (next to Procida)
  • Postman's beach
  • Corricella at sunset time
procida in a day

Ischia

Perhaps the most complicated of the 3 to visit because it is really big and with so many things to do. In fact Ischia really needs a weekend to enjoy it fully. In one day, however, many things could be done. Considering also that the major attractions are near the main port. Not to be missed on Ischia:

  • Aragonese Castle
  • Thermal bath
  • Ischia Ponte
  • Sant Angelo
  • Maronti beach
Ischia

Best experiences to do in Naples Italy: trekking on Vesuvius

How the idea of walking on an active volcano would make you feel ? I asked myself this too when for the first time I decided to climb Vesuvius. There are things that, until you see them with your own eyes, you can only savor with your imagination. One thing, however, I can tell you: nature can be scary but at the same time fascinating.

This is the first sensation I had of Vesuvius, later knowing its history. The story that made it possible to visit the ruined cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Two cities that can tell the destructive force of nature. Two cities that can also tell their natural charm.

best-experiences-to-do-in-naples

On Vesuvius, in addition to seeing the fumaroles and its immense mouth, you can also see 2 different views. Once at the top you can walk along the vent and switch from one view to another. More precisely from the view of the city of Naples to that of the Sorrento coast. A unique show, which in my opinion is to be put on the list.

Best experiences to do in Naples Italy: day trip to Sorrento and/or Amalfi coast

If you get the chance, go there. This is how I begin this paragraph of the article. You could tell me: but the Sorrento coast is not Naples. Partially true as Sorrento is the province of Naples , therefore part of the Neapolitan area. The reason why I suggest you go is that the coast is unique.

a-day-on-the-coastal-sorrentina

Both the Sorrento and Amalfi coasts are a true Italian dream. Two coastal which, between curves and cliffs, are known all over the world for their beauty. A day away from Naples would be ideal to experience them (even if for a few hours). I also recommend the cities in which to stop and which are extraordinarily beautiful:

  • Vico Equense
  • Sorrento
  • Positano
  • Amalfi
