Where is Alberobello in Italy?
I already wrote it in the preface but it's better to remember it: Alberobello is located in Puglia. Precisely it is located in the area central–south area and it is close to Bari. So it is closer to the Adriatic seaside than the Ionio one!
Is possible to visit Alberobello in half a day?
Absolutely yes. Reason why I titled the post like this. Visiting Alberobello is very pleasant and can be done in no time. The city (of the trulli) is very small and is a continuous stroll.
When to visit Alberobello?
Unless you have been forced (like me), due to vacation, I do not recommend August . Too much chaos and maybe you don't even enjoy a nice walk with some pictures in peace. I barely managed to sit down to eat something. Of course there are so many other hit and run alternatives that can compensate!
Avoid, if not compelled, Sundays in general. The perfect months for me are from April to October. In Puglia the weather is beautiful in this period of time. So if you decide to visit it, these are my tips.
Oh I forgot, most importantly: I recommend you visit it from early afternoon . Scrolling through the article you will understand why!
Visit Alberobello in half a day: in the ways of trulli
One of the main activities that you will certainly not be able to skip is "walking". Alberobello is made to be discovered on foot, also because it is a pedestrian zone!
Between one small street and the other you will find always different trulli between them and details.
There are trulli that house shops, restaurants, hotels, b&bs. There are those who live in the trulli! Honestly, I haven't had the experience of sleeping in a trullo but in the future I hope so.
You will also find a Church in the shape of a trullo , always walking through the streets of the city! All very fairytale, all very beautiful!
Visit Alberobello in half a day: an Unesco sunset
Perhaps I have omitted this little detail. The Trulli of Alberobello since 6 December 1996 are protected by the Unesco . Telling you to visit it from the early afternoon was to not make you miss this phenomenon.
By phenomenon I mean sunset and believe me: the sunset here is part of the tour. What I recommend is to reach the highest part of the village to have a minimum of skyline.
Visit Alberobello in half a day: Piazza del Popolo
In Alberobello you must pass by Piazza del Popolo . More than seeing or visiting, take it as a reference point. From here you can go anywhere and above all you can go back to organize yourself on what to do.
Once you have visited Alberobello, you will find dozens of restaurants in the square. In the square they are all very "sciuè sciuè" as we would say in my part. Or maybe "pane e puparuoli" may sound even better! In any case, Spartan style, "basta ca se magn". It means the important thing is to eat something.
Or you can decide to opt for a nice dinner in one of the restaurants here in the city.

If you decide to sleep in Alberobello and then leave the next day, there is also a wide choice here. What I can tell you is this: once here, settle things once and for all and sleep in a trullo . I have already said I have not had a chance but it is an experience I want to do. This is a small list of trulli where to sleep with medium-high prices.
How to get to Alberobello: public transports
To get to Alberobello by public transport you have 2 options: train and / or bus. To avoid here pro quo I leave you the link (timetables and rides) always updated! The only thing I did was leave Bari as a starting point! Of course you can change it to your liking!
Where to park in Alberobello
If the alternative were the car, rest assured about that too. In Alberobello it is possible to park in one of the convenient parking lots for a fee! They are not expensive, the entire stay should be 5 euros!

It is that of Bari, the closest airport to Alberobello . So, if you want a reference to reach Alberobello and come from afar, it is Bari. From the Bari airport, you can also directly reach Alberobello!

I hope you enjoyed this little trip to Alberobello and found it useful. As I told you in the preface, visiting Alberobello takes little. If you come from far away, of course I recommend that you stay more than a few days.
I don't mean only and exclusively in Alberobello but to include it in your tour! Also because near Alberobello there are many beautiful things to see. Bari itself is very beautiful to visit!
So if you come from afar make a thought of at least 3-4 days. In these, insert this Unesco Heritage gem.
