How many days do I need to visit Hobart and surrounding areas?

3 days are more than enough to have a time to relax and enjoy Hobart and surrounds. In addition to visiting the city, from Hobart there are several tours to discover this magnificent land. I did 2 that made me fall in love with this Australian island.

Things to do in Hobart without a car: visit the city center

Well, it goes without saying that once in Hobart visiting the city center is a must. Hobart is a seaside city and like all seaside cities it has a beautiful seaside. On the 1st day I recommend you take a tour around the city center and move to the seafront for a walk. There are some very nice spots to observe Hobart and the mountains that surround it.

Salamanca Market

Hobart's vibrant street market comes to life downtown every Saturday.

Things to do in Hobart without a car: Royal Botanic Gardens

Another beautiful attraction to visit in Hobart that can be easily reached from the centre.

Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery

Tasmania's natural and cultural heritage and cultural identity of Tasmanians. If I were you I'd drop by.

Things to do in Hobart without a car: Mt Wellington

1271 meters of extraordinary and natural beauty. Mount Wellington forms the backdrop to Hobart and from the top there is an extraordinary panorama. Not just about the city but everything surrounding Hobart. With its boundless land and immaculate air, Tasmania is a land to be admired. There is a special bus to get to the top and, once there, you can stay for half an hour to enjoy the view. At the end of the article I leave you the link for the bus tour ticket.

Things to do in Hobart without a car: Bruny Island

This is 101% the “gem” of a trip to Tasmania and not to be missed. Bruny Island is one of the most incredible places I have seen during my travels. Consider that reaching Bruny Island from Hobart is very simple and visiting it takes a day. What I recommend you do is always a tour with an expert person to optimize the time.

bruny island neck

Bruny Island Neck

An isthmus of land that divides the north and south of Bruny Island and which gives life to a movie scenario. How beautiful. I was enchanted by observing and scrutinizing this place, doing so from its highest point.

truganini viewpoint

Truganini viewpoint

300 steps that will take you to a worthy viewpoint of the climb made. Belvedere Truganini is the highest point on Bruny Island Neck and where you will get the iconic view. A stop on the tour where you will stop for about half an hour. Lovely place that took part of my top 10 of the most beautiful places I have seen in my life.

Lighthouse of Bruny Island

Another stop on the tour and one that you will surely like. The landscape surrounding the lighthouse is very picturesque. You can feel, here too, how Tasmania is primordial. Here you will find high and beautiful cliffs that surround the landscape.

Rainforest

During the tour there will also be time for a walk in an australian rain forest. It was right here on Bruny Island that I explored my 1st rain forest. Immerse yourself in the flora of the island and admire its details. I fell in love with the Australian vegetation with its tropical appearance.

Food & drink tours

During the tour there will be a couple of stops at shops that produce local products (honey, beers and food). Take advantage of it to buy something good from this fantastic land. During the tour there will also be a stop for lunch (with separate payment) which I recommend. The food quality in Tasmania is excellent and I didn't expect it at all.
