Precisely because you will be in Venice for only one day, the gondola ride through its canals is a must. Venice is a city that can also be explored through its beautiful canals. The gondola ride will let you discover Venice in its true essence and is, in my opinion, an experience worth having. I would add: especially if you are with your better half.
Where to take the gondola ride
In my opinion, among the best areas to take a gondola ride are Rialto and San Marco. In the surroundings of these two areas you will find many gondolier stations. Lose yourself among its canals and admire their beauty from the sea.

Since 1591 it has been there as you see it today. The Rialto Bridge is the oldest in Venice and connects two key points of the city. From its top you can admire the beauty of the Grand Canal and its buildings. An absolutely unmissable spot that will lead you to the next stop: Piazza San Marco.

The only square in Venice as all the other open spaces are called "campi". Piazza San Marco needs no introduction, its beauty is known throughout the world. Iconic in the square is the Basilica with its unmistakable Romanesque-Byzantine and Gothic style. It is worth visiting inside, in my opinion, for its extraordinary beauty.

If you have the opportunity to go to San Marco at night, do it. San Marco at night is so beautiful. The lights along the entire colonnade light up, giving it a magical look.
Bridge of sighs
You can find it there, a few steps from Piazza San Marco, reachable in a few minutes on foot. Another iconic bridge of Venice, a bridge suspended from one building to another. It is a spot not to be missed and that many admire from the gondola. Even from San Marco's area, you can take the gondola tour, passing under the bridge.

In front of Piazza San Marco there is a beautiful island with a beautiful church. Island that you have often seen in photos on the internet with its unmistakable skyline. In fact, just one vaporetto stop from San Marco, you can reach San Giorgio.

What to eat in Venice
Venice is a city where you can eat a lot of typical things, and here are the ones I have tried:
- Baccalà mantecato
- Sarde in saor
- Spaghetti alla Busara
- Liver Venetian style
Not to be missed is definitely an aperitif with spritz and Venetian cicchetti. For those who don't know, cicchetti are snacks/bites to accompany an aperitif.
