Amalfi Coast 3-day itinerary: Positano (day 1)

The town to have as a reference once on the Amalfi coast and where to stay. Positano, for us, is a gem, a precious diamond. Its beauty is unique and its charm captivates everyone once here on the coast. I love its shapes, especially when I observe it from afar, from some spots along the coast. Positano can be visited on foot, as it is purely pedestrian. Lose yourself in its streets and savor the classic Italian slow life.

• From Positano it is easier to reach Capri
• Nightlife in Positano is much more vibrant than in other towns on the coast

Positano beaches: free and private

As in all towns on the Amalfi coast, there are free beaches and private beaches. In Positano you will find “spiaggia grande” which is the main beach in town. This is divided by a part of the free beach and beach clubs that provide additional services. The area is full of restaurants and bars where you can stop and eat.

Positano nightlife

Amalfi is the second destination on this itinerary and can be reached in two quick ways:

• Scooters: which I mentioned earlier

Stop at the Fjord of Furore

On the way between Positano and Amalfi (if you are on a scooter) you can stop at the Fjord of Furore. This place is enchanting and a popular destination because of its bridge that divides the fjord and the sea. There is also a beach at the fjord and if you have time you can spend some time there.

If you wake up early in the morning in Positano, you might give it a thought. In addition to the fjord of furore, along the way you will come across many breathtaking spots. Stop to take some nice memory photos at one of the many lay-bys.

Amalfi Coast 3-day itinerary: Centre of Amalfi

Amalfi is easy to visit in a day, being very small. Among its main attractions is the Sant Andrea's Cathedral. It's there, nestled at the top of its 57 steps, beautiful and no one moves it. Take the opportunity, once there, to visit it inside because it is absolutely worth it.

Oh, I forgot: Atrani is the smallest village in Italy and it is located just after Amalfi, and everyone pops in. So you too will explore this little gem of the coast. Getting to Atrani is possible either on foot or by scooter and you will be enraptured by its unspoilt beauty.

Ravello and its breathtaking view

Ravello, on the Amalfi coast, is famous for many things and is only 30 minutes from Amalfi. Among these is surely its breathtaking view of the entire coastline. And to add to the itinerary? For me yes. It is also famous for hosting the annual Ravello Music Festival held at Villa Rufolo. The latter is one of the two most iconic and ancient villas on the coast. Is it better to stay in Amalfi or Positano?

The answer to this question depends on whether you rent the scooter or not. If you decide to rent the scooter and you do so from Positano, you also have to return it. It means that on the 2nd day you have to come back to Positano and sleep there again. Then I tell you: even if you didn't rent it, spending the 2nd night in Amalfi would be inconvenient. You would have to check out (from Positano) take your bags with you and check in again, wasting time. Better to stay in Positano both days.
