Baia – Campi Flegrei

People say we need to invest in young people. So, we, to give you the welcome to Naples let's start with the photo of the youngest of the task force.
The entrance to Baia looks like this: a picture with its frame. The viewpoint in the photo is located at the foot of the imposing Castello Aragonese . Here you will find the view of one of the most panoramic points of Bacoli. Thanks to its strategic position, the fortress dominates the entire Gulf of Pozzuoli. (Up to Procida, Ischia and Cuma).

A stone arch surrounds the open sea. In the background is his Majesty the Vesuvius and the vastness of the Neapolitan coast. Then just turn your gaze to the left to admire the ancient Castle from below. Undisputed protagonist of the area, it houses the Archaeological Museum of Campi Flegrei . This terrace protrudes into infinity. And it is undoubtedly one of the most evocative and unmissable places in Naples and its surroundings.

Capodimonte

We move to Capodimonte , to be exact to Via Ottavio Morisani ! From here, in the hilly area of Naples, there is the highest perspective to admire the city. It literally seems to have Naples at your feet. If you don't exclaim “mamma mia” once you get here, it means you are in the wrong place.

Piazza Plebiscito

Piazza Plebiscito is one of the symbols of Naples. It is located in the heart of the historic center and is the largest in the city and major in all of Italy. Walking in Piazza Plebiscito is like diving into the past. Modernity is founded on history, both with legends and with architecture.

Here it is tradition to cross and pass, with eyes closed (starting from the door of the Royal Palace), between the two statues. Nobody seems to be able to do it. The impossibility of crossing the two statues is attributed to a legend. It is said that the Regina Margherita granted once a month to one of her prisoners the chance to be released, and to see the her life. No prisoner has ever succeeded, apparently due to a "curse" of the sovereign.

Palazzo dello Spagnuolo

Unlike those seen so far, this one is of an urban landscape type! Palazzo dello Spagnuolo is so called because it belonged to a Spanish nobleman during the 19th century. Monumental palace of Naples, located in via Vergini in the Sanità district. It is located in the historic city center and is an example of architecture. The style Neapolitan Baroque . This is thanks above all to the exemplary grandeur of the main double flight staircase.

It constitutes the internal facade of the building, as well as the main feature of the Neapolitan Baroque. The beauty of the place has not gone unnoticed on the big and small screen. Over the course of time, countless productions have passed through the Palace. Thus becoming a spot for wonderful shots . From "Il Giudizio Universale" by Vittorio De Sica to Sense8 of the Netflix streaming service. There are now several audiovisual products in which the staircase was the protagonist.

Via Domenico Fontana – Arenella

Naples is like music … A colorful, loud music. Sometimes rap, sometimes blues. His beat changes constantly and tells us of anger, pain but also of beauty and love, indeed perhaps above all of that. And you know, love is the most beautiful music in the world .
Naples is simply like that: like love … Like music.

Via Ortensio – Posillipo

Posillipo , one of the most highly placed hilly neighborhoods of Naples. Legend has it that if you just want to “think” that you want to buy a house with a view here, you have to be born again 7 times. The view from some points of Posillipo is breathtaking. Via Ortesio is one of them.

Marechiaro

«Quanno spónta ‘a luna à Marechiare, pure li pisce nce fanno a ll’ammóre…». This is how the song goes '' Marechiare ''
by Salvatore Di Giacomo , well-known Neapolitan poet and writer. If today this small fishing village is famous in the world, it owes it to the well-known writer who, according to the legend, in order to write the lines of one of the most famous Neapolitan songs in the world, was inspired by a
small window on whose sill there was a carnation.

Even today on the sill of the famous
window there is a fresh carnation together with a plaque that recalls the notes of the song. But the
history of this borgo dates back to the dawn of the great civilizations, both Greek and Roman. Precisely in Roman times the village experienced a period of great splendor and, to that period (1st century BC), the Palazzo degli Spiriti, nymphaeum of the Vedio Pollione villa and the remains of the Piscinarium date back. Also worth visiting is the church of Santa Maria del Faro, a Baroque work that contains some remains of the Roman villa of Pausilypon.

Palazzo Donn’Anna

Palazzo Donn’Anna is one of the many historic buildings in the city of Naples. One of the few to be surrounded by so much blue so much so that it literally overlooks the sea. It is always located in Posillipo and, as you understand, it is the most popular area for us photographers.

Admiring it in the direction of the photo, the background, as you can see, is the sea! From Palazzo Donn’Anna (facing the balcony) you have one of the most evocative views of the Gulf of Naples .

Fontana del gigante

We are located in the curve between Via Partenope and Via Nazario Sauro. Here is the Fontana del Gigante or Fontana dell'Immacolatella. Coming from Castel dell’Ovo the scenery is made fabulous by the Vesuvius that he masters behind.

On the left is the famous and luxurious Hotel Excelsior . Historical building whose origins date back to 1908. The fountain of the Giant is so called because it was originally located near the Royal Palace where the statue of the Giant was located. It was moved several times until it found its final location.

Rotonda di via Nazario Sauro

Rotonda di via Nazario Sauro represents one of the most evocative places in Naples. A "pearl" that gives its best at the first light of the morning. Admiring the sun emerging from the sea, behind Vesuvius, is one of those emotions that remain etched in the heart.

One of those emotions to live in our Naples. It is easy to see boatmen on their boats immersing themselves in this splendor away from the shore. One of those trips that are personally envied.

Via Orazio

We can define it as the climb that leads to the Olympus ! The one that gives the "there" to the most popular area, from a landscape point of view! From the foot of Mergellina this wonderful uphill road begins. Not even 2/3 minutes away you will find this scenario!

Castel dell’Ovo

The oldest castle in the city. Castel dell’Ovo is the fixed point in the gulf, a bastion of Neapolitan history, mysteries and legends. Protagonist in epic battles, son of the Vulcano with a tuff core.

One could continue indefinitely to write about his wonders, but basically just look at him.

How to get to all these places

In this paragraph we leave you a custom map with all points. This will make it easier for you to reach them without having to search for them.

Now you just have to choose the place you prefer, maybe why not, with the person you prefer and let yourself be carried away by something called: napoletanità

Conclusions

Our article comes to an end. We hope that with our images they have said more than our words. Of course we also tell you that Naples is full of many other places.

Those on which we have focused are purely of the landscape type. Naples, however, exudes history and culture from every single street corner! What we recommend, as already said in the preface, is to do only one thing to "understand" and "live" this city:

"See Naples and then die…"

Ah, since we also wanted to tell you, even if very biased:
“Being Neapolitan is wonderful”
