2 Day Dubrovnik Itinerary: the journey begins!

My journey could not have started except with Easyjet which is now churning out flight offers day by day. To be honest I chose a quiet period, that is June. The cost will have been about 70 euros (round trip) with a flight (from Naples) that lasted an hour.

What caught my attention immediately was the panorama. Yes, because from my window (I love the place near the window) you could see a block of islands. In fact Croatia is full of them and not far from the coast.

As usual, at the sight of this, I take my canon with a wide angle of 10-22 mm and shot the first photo of Dubrovnik . From the heights of the skies it looks like a real stronghold, solid, impenetrable. It almost seems that she looks out over the sea as a beautiful woman looks out from the balcony.

2 Day Dubrovnik Itinerary: entry into the fortress

Once I arrived at the airport it was very easy to reach the city center . I took a bus (there is an info point in the airport to ask for) with a very low price cheap . The journey time is about 30 minutes but very pleasant because the journey is coast to coast.

So what you have to do for half an hour is simply to aim for nature. Once arrived, the bus stops outside the city because inside the walls it is only a pedestrian zone. Entry into the city is literally magical . You find yourself having to cross this bridge made of ancient stones and at the end of it a stronghold.

I chose to stay inside of the city walls. I think it is the best way to live the experience of a medieval city. The price to stay inside is slightly higher . As a result, however, going down every day and finding yourself between ancient and medieval streets is priceless.

2 Day Dubrovnik Itinerary: kayak tour

Before leaving I was already informed about this tour, I state that I have a weakness for sports activities. Kayaking is one of these being that I come from Naples and that I am close to one of the most beautiful coasts in the world.
I'm talking about the Sorrento and Amalfi coast. Of which I will dedicate an article for my next trips.

If, therefore, you are passionate about sports I recommend this fantastic experience . Obviously I didn't waste time and as soon as I arrived in the city I asked for info in the hostel. They redirected me to what I think is the only place where tours start. The booking could also be made online. But we are on vacation right? Better go there live to take a stroll.

Arrived on the spot (lunchtime) I asked for information about the tours and there are several. Those of 3 hours, from an hour and a half and even less. Obviously the prices vary and I recommend you take the guided tour as you don't know the place.

Obviously I opted for the 3-hour one which costs approximately 30 euros . In my opinion they are all worth it and now you will understand why. The best part is that I chose the sunset time . Wonderful, all wonderful. The 3-hour tour is scheduled to depart around 17:00 so you can return to the city for a tour.

Ready, go, eeeeh oh, paddle

The departure takes place in an area called Dubrovnik. And, HEAR HEAR, it's one small picturesque bay and set of the series "Game of Thrones". Yes, you got it right, if you love one of the most beautiful series ever you can't miss this place.

Of course, it is also one of the main landscaping spots for taking photos. Including also the cover of my article.
In canoe we tend to go in 2 and since I was alone I made friends with an American and we sailed together. Before departure they provide you with waterproof backpacks for objects.

Everything goes inside, you think I brought the camera backpack. Then I put my cell phone, shoes and clothes on. Very convenient and above all you can have the folder at hand. So you can take some pictures while you stop to make stops.

The guided tour includes a tour around the island of Lokrum which is located just in front of the city.

After a series of historical explanations of Dubrovnik made by kayak guides, we leave for the tour . The entire exterior of the island is circumnavigated to the point where there is a cave . The guides take you inside (always on the kayak) and show you around. It's wonderful to say the least, but the surprises don't end there.

After having circumnavigated the island, you obviously arrive on the other side. Continue towards the coast where there is another stop, this time I think in one of the most beautiful places in Dubrovnik. A cave, complete with a beach, where you can "park" the kayaks and finally take a dip in the sea. It's called Betina Cave Beach

I didn't tell you before that in the price of 30 euros I am also including a sandwich and water that the guides bring with them. And once they reach this cave they distribute them. P.Š. I recommend you eat because afterwards there will still be paddling XD.

In this place you will also be provided with masks for snorkel . I tried it and it's very nice because there are beautiful coves.
The stop lasts about 30-35 minutes then leave and return to the bay. And it is from this moment that your body, your mind and your soul will merge.

On the way back

For those who have never done so, the perfect time to go kayaking is: either early in the morning or in the evening. The reason is that the wind , in both cases, is almost absent and therefore you can paddle effortlessly. In the evening, then, you can enjoy one of the best moments of the day ever: sunset .

And that is why the return to Dubrovnik Bay was the most beautiful moment. Try to close your eyes and imagineThe sun going down, the sound of the sea, you feel the stillness in the air. A sense of tranquillity and of relax first goes through your body, then your mind and finally your soul. The soul that is warmed by that last glimpse of the sun about to make way for the moon.

Back in the bay and settled in the kayaks, the guides end the tour giving everyone a nice glass of bay view wine. The beautiful shades of the sky helped to make this moment magical. Recommended (especially for those who have never done it) and approved.

2 Day Dubrovnik Itinerary: Lovrijenac

My journey continues and we do it by visiting Lovrijenac. The fortress on the sea of 1500, built along a rocky wall of 37 meters. From here you have the view of one of the most beautiful glimpses of Dubrovnik because it overlooks West Harbor bay and from the highest point.

Getting there is nice. Why? Well because you will have to do many steps and the nicest one is that every 4/5 steps you will stop. Because the view always changes from step to step, with different angles.

The walls of the suggestive location remain open from Monday to Sunday from 8.00 to 18.30. The entrance fee to the walls is around 150 kuna = 20 €. Maybe the cost is a bit high. I was there because, as a landscape photographer, I could not miss this spot. And one thing I can assure you: the view is breathtaking , so if you have € 20 out of your pocket go there.

Inside, the Fort remains naked and raw as it is, without infamy and without praise. The good thing is that (I have been unlucky) here they often exhibit exhibits. Or they do shows throughout the tourist season.

2 Day Dubrovnik Itinerary: the Port

The ports, which person who loves the sea do not like? They have an impressive charm, let alone that of a city Unesco Heritage . If I had to describe the port of Dubrovnik in one word I would use: LIVELY! Yes, because the port of Dubrovnik is the most passing place of the city.

Between people who travel by boat, between those who stop for lunch or dinner, among those who bathe. Yes, the port of Dubrovnik has water so clear that it can plunge into it . For a walk to the historic pier "Porporela" . In a simple word: LIVELY.

The port of Dubrovnik was, in this trip of mine, one of the places where I have often been . I found a very nice place to have breakfast in the morning, 2 steps from the sea. And the one next to where to have lunch or dinner; in short, a life with a sea view.

Day and night

The port is fascinating both during the day, where there is a lot of vitality, and in the evening, where everything calms down. When there is the sound of the sea to reign , when at sunset you can sit blissfully and enjoy a beautiful Croatian sunset. And maybe take some nice pictures.

The port is also fascinating because is surrounded , in part, from the walls . Following the castle walls, towards the final part of it, we find ourselves at the historic pier. Here too you can find refreshment, also because there is a kiosk that sells drinks and teases. In addition, here you will find several people taking a dip in the sea because it is the area where there are no boats.

To make everything magical there will be, from time to time, the passage (impossible not to notice it) of a galleon. Probably used for tours to the nearby islands and which makes everything magical when you leave and arrive. It seems to relive medieval life or it seems to be catapulted into an episode of Game of Thrones .

2 Day Dubrovnik Itinerary: Banje Beach

You may have wondered: but there is no beach where you can stretch out with "4 of sticks"? P.s. if you didn't know, in Naples we use this expression for places to "relax and be comfortable". The answer however is yes and there is a beautiful and very large beach . It's called Banje Beach It is not, however, in old Dubrovnik but just a bit out.
You can go there safely on foot . Leaving the old city and following the signs you can reach it in 5 minutes . Obviously there is both the public beach and a private beach if you need something.

I obviously, however, as a landscape photographer I went a little further. I did it to take some photos of Dubrovnik in the distance . Moving further away you will also find other places where you can take a bath. Mostly they are rocky areas but comfortable spaces are found.
The good thing about these more reserved areas is that if you want a little of privacy are perfect . The water is crystal clear and the desire to take a bath immediately rises. Be careful of the temperature , if he sits chilly like me, you will have a somewhat slow XD approach.

The Croatian coast and that of Dubrovnik in particular, have reminded me at times of my coast . Rocks, alternating beaches, basins, bays and caves, let's say it was all familiar to me.

2 Day Dubrovnik Itinerary: Historical center

Like any self-respecting city, Dubrovnik also has its own historic center. But here, in practice, the historic center is all there is within the walls . Streets and streets that intersect and lead you to some glimpse of the panorama.

Medieval architecture that makes it simple but at the same time unique . The air of tranquility that reigns ... All this makes the perfect, harmonious journey full of things to do.

What and where eat in Dubrovnik

As a good seaside city in Dubrovnik fish is recommended . Every time I passed the restaurants I felt a heady scent. Two of the most popular things are:

• The cuttlefish ink risotto with the catch of the day (everyone proposes it)
• The local fish soup

Prices are not excessive, vary from 10 to 20 euros within reach , which also depend on the location. If you are in the center it costs a little less (a few euros) because you don't have a sea view.

In the evening, the port area goes off around 11:30 am / midnight, at which time almost all restaurants close. And so we go for a walk of complete relaxation. In the center , however, find some pubs friendly open until 2/3 at night . You will come across for sure because walking through the streets there are several.

Where to stay in Dubrovnik

As I told you at the beginning of the article, I went to Dubrovnik in June. For me it was perfect because I got to photograph many places in peace. Certainly months like July and August will be more lively.

I personally, being a single traveler, I opted for a hostel . I chose one right in the center with an average price: Hostel Amnesia . For 2 nights I paid 80 euros but as I said at the beginning, staying in the old city it costs a bit more. My trip, unfortunately, is about to end and we are going to conclusions.

2 Day Dubrovnik Itinerary: Conclusions

Well, after all that I have shown and written I think that Dubrovnik is to be added to the wish list.

• To conclude, therefore, I recommend stay there at least 2 nights . I honestly would have done the third
• Staying inside the city wall
• Take the kayak tour
• If you are passionate about the Game of Thrones series go to West Harbor bay
• Ideal for couples and families

Like every beginning there is also an end, but then I remember that they invented photography. And it is thanks to it that I will remember this umpteenth wonderful journey.
