Naples is a wonderful city (and yes, I'm biased), and in two days you can see everything you need. Just enough to make you want to come back again and again. Do you have comfortable shoes? 2 Day Naples Itinerary: Waterfront Walking Tour
You should know that I'm sea lover, and this is the first tour I recommend. A tour with lots to see, starting from Piazza Municipio and ending at the seafront of the city.
Naples is a city best explored on foot, so ditch the idea of buses and subways. The stops on the first itinerary will be:
- Maschio Angioino (Castle)
- Umberto I Gallery
- Via Toledo and Quartieri Spagnoli
- Piazza Plebiscito
- Naples Underground
- Via Parthenope
- Ovo Castle
- Borgo Marinari
- Mergellina
- 13 Descent of Sant Antonio (viewpoint)
Don't worry, I know it may seem like a lot, but all these places come one after the other. As I said at the beginning, arm yourself with patience and a pair of comfortable shoes and you'll see that everything will be fine. On this itinerary you will have the opportunity to admire the landscape of Naples.

Accommodation a stone's throw from the seafront and the metro
Staying a stone's throw from the sea is priceless. Add to this the fact that the Mergellina area is already the city centre and you have the most beautiful view in the world. Well, what are you waiting for? Check out the map!
2 Day Naples Itinerary: Historic Centre
While the first tour can be defined as more exotic, due to the presence of the sea and the landscapes, the second is more historical/cultural. Naples is a city of art, history, and culture with traditions that have been handed down for centuries.
Strolling through the historic center, you can sense this vibe, experience the Neapolitanness. Months wouldn't be enough to understand a city like Naples and its people. The stops on the second itinerary (of the historic center) are as follows:
- San Gregorio Armeno
- Veiled Christ
- Cloister of Santa Chiara
- Naples Cathedral
- Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore
- Girolamini Church
- Gesù Nuovo Square and Church

If you'd like to take one of these two days to go on a day trip, I can give you some advice. I'll give you some options, which you can then decide for yourself, for things to do outside the city.
This means, however, that you have to give up one of the two previous itineraries.
What to see near Naples: Pompeii & Vesuvius
One of the suggestions I give you is visiting Pompeii and Vesuvius (even together in one day). In my opinion, they are both unique experiences worth having. Pompeii has a unique history that can be relived by walking among the ruins.
Vesuvius is one of the symbols of Naples and is perfect for those who love hiking and trekking. From its summit, in addition to walking along the mouth of the volcano, you can also enjoy a breathtaking 360° view. If you want to know more and discover more, I'll leave you with some insights:
What to see near Naples: Sorrento
Another tip I can give you is to go to Sorrento. You can get there by train from Naples, which ends in Sorrento.
Circumvesuviana is the name of the line between Naples and Sorrento. Another way to reach Sorrento is by ferry/hydrofoil:
What to see near Naples: Capri
Capri is another wonderful place to spend a day out. Compact enough to be explored in a day, it's best explored on foot.

What to eat in Naples
If you're in Naples or the surrounding area, these are some culinary delights you shouldn't miss:
- Pizza (obviously)
- Pasta and potatoes with provola cheese
- Genovese
- Gnocchi alla sorrentina
- Ravioli alla caprese
- Eggplant parmigiana
- Crocchè
- Pizza Montanara (large or small takeaway)
- Babà
- Sfogliatella
- Riccia
- Caprese
- Pastiera
- Limoncello
- Coffee (this must never be missing)
