Day trip to Lugano: lakeside
Switzerland is famous for its idyllic landscapes and Lugano is 100% to visit for its beauties. In Lugano you will find some incredible places. Places to stop and admire what nature is capable of doing. The lakeside of Lugano is one of these, where you can admire the Ceresio lake and all that surrounds it. As a backdrop to the lake (and from different positions) there are the Brè and San Salvatore Mountains. Take the opportunity for a nice, long walk to enjoy the landscape.
Day trip to Lugano: city centre
A stop in the city center in Lugano is more than due. As in all cities, in Lugano, there is a beautiful city center to visit. Stroll through the streets of this city and immerse yourself in a Swiss-Italian mood. There are many shops (food, bars, retail, and much more) where you can stop and shop.
Day trip in Lugano: Brè Mountain
If you spend a day in Lugano there is a place that I particularly recommend you visit: Brè Mountain. One of the two mountains that forms the background to Lake Ceresio in Lugano. What a place. How peaceful. Not only the view from above of all of Lugano and what surrounds it is beautiful, but also getting there.
How to get to Brè Mountain
There are two ways to get to Brè Mountain:
- Bus (cheaper)
- Cable car
Whatever way you ascend, prepare to ascend to Heaven. If I can also give you some advice: use the bus to reach Brè Mountain. You will first stop in a very special village, that of Brè . I was enchanted by what is a classic Swiss landscape in spring. Switzerland conveys a sense of inner peace.
From the village of Brè to the viewpoint overlooking Lugano
Once you arrive at the small village of Brè you can walk up to the top where the viewpoint is. There are signs, so you can't go wrong. Enjoy the nature that surrounds you and all that this magnificent country has to offer. From the viewpoint you can admire the beautiful Lugano and everything that surrounds it. Here you will also find a restaurant, take advantage of it if you are there for lunch.
Viewpoint “via alla vetta”
When you get to the summit of Brè Mountain, you can also decide to follow different mountain paths. One of these is the one that leads to a beautiful viewpoint on Brè and which can be reached via “via alla vetta”.

What to see near Lugano
Lugano is beautiful not only for the city itself, but also for the places that can be reached from here. Among the most beautiful places that I recommend you visit near Lugano are:

The Maldives of Ticino: Verzasca Valley
A place so beautiful that it seems like something out of a fairy tale honestly. You can't even imagine the beauty of Verzasca until you get there. In Switzerland they call it: the Maldives of Ticino . Let's start from the assumption that the landscapes to reach this place are already spectacular. If you have time and a few extra days to spend, definitely stop by.
Como
Como and its famous lake in Italy are a now well-known and popular destination. The city of Como is beautiful, from the city center to its lakeside promenade. It can be visited easily in half a day and is another idea to combine with Lugano. That is if you decide to take a few days of extended vacation.
Milan
Milan is Milan, it needs no introduction. A city that impressed me so much when I visited it as a tourist and I explored it well. There are many things to do in Milan, more than you might think.
