Believe it or not, Amalfi can easily be visited in one day on foot. It's a city not to be missed, especially since Amalfi gives its name to the Amalfi Coast. The things to see are all close to each other, making the itinerary quick and easy. Amalfi in one day: Piazza Duomo & Sant'Andrea Cathedral
It's impossible not to pass through this square, as it's the beating heart of the city. Piazza Duomo takes its name from the cathedral located at the top of the steps. Every time I go, I always wonder who set that gem up there. There are both bars and restaurants in the square where you can stop.
As mentioned, it's located at the top of the steps in the main square and can be visited for a modest fee. Prices may vary from year to year, so I recommend inquiring directly on site. The Cathedral of Sant Andrea is definitely worth a visit, as it's beautiful inside. P.S. the visit also includes the cloister.
Amalfi in one day: paper museum
Amalfi is also famous for the Paper Museum, which I personally visited. The museum is a former paper mill that was converted into a museum in 1969. The museum tells the story of papermaking in the area. This process dates back to the Middle Ages, and the machinery is still there. Souvenirs (paper, of course) are also available for purchase in the museum. It's worth a visit to learn about this uniquely Amalfi art.

And why not take a dip in Amalfi? Of course you can. In the center of Amalfi, just a few steps from Piazza Duomo, you'll find the main beach where you can take a dip. You'll find both free beaches and private lidos; the choice is yours based on your budget.
Amalfi Duoglio Beach
Further from the center (about a 30-minute walk) you'll find Duoglio Beach. This paradise can be reached by descending 400 steps, where you'll find a beach club at the end. You can also rent water sports equipment here. A beach far from the chaos of the center, it's worth spending half a day there.

What to see near Amalfi: Atrani
Since visiting Amalfi takes very little time, you can stretch your legs to Atrani. The smallest village in Italy is just a 15-minute walk from Amalfi. There's also a bus from the city center that takes you there, in case you're tired. Atrani is a jewel, it seems to have come out of a fairytale. I love its beautiful skyline and every time I reach it I stop on a bench to admire it.
What to see near Amalfi: Ravello
About 30 minutes away by bus, you can visit the splendid Ravello. A mountain community on the Amalfi Coast, it's famous for its beautiful villas. Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo are a feast for the eyes, and the town itself is also beautiful to visit. From Ravello, in fact, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the coast. If I were you, I'd make a stop there.
